She Never Calls

I've been out of town on unexpected family business. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and I wanted to be there to help out after her surgery. All looks like it will pan out well, the last of her test results return this Friday. We're holding our breath for a good outcome so we can put all of this behind us and move on along with things.

While at my parent's house I was able to rummage through some of their knick knacks... among the items is an old vintage phone my grandmother had in her apartment as long as I can remember. It now gathers dust in the basement. Despite the dust, I still see it the way I did as a child, as some kind of elegant and supreme phone. I imagined a better world where we all conversed with such elegance!
